Distribution of Dry Food Parcels to Low-Income Families – Mega Service Project As part of the Mega Service Project jointly organized by the Akuressa Lions Club and the Horana Metro Lions Club at the Thanamalwila Sinhagiri Temple, a compassionate community welfare initiative was carried out to support economically vulnerable families living in the area. During this service event, dry food parcels were distributed to 20 low-income families, with the objective of alleviating their daily financial burdens and ensuring access to essential food items. Free Medical Camp Benefits Thanamalwila Community A free medical camp was successfully conducted at the Thanamalwila Sinhagiri Temple in conjunction with the Mega Service Project jointly organised by the Akuressa Lions Club and the Horana Metro Lions Club. The initiative provided much-needed healthcare services to residents of the area, with special attention given to both adults and children. The camp offered a range of medical services including screening for diabetes, cholesterol levels, heart disease risk, dental issues, eye problems, and other common illnesses. Mega Service Project by Akuressa Lions Club & Horana Metro Lions Club A remarkable Mega Service Project was successfully organized as a joint initiative of the Akuressa Lions Club and the Horana Metro Lions Club at the Thanamalwila Sinhagiri Temple. The community-centered project focused on enhancing eye health among adults in the region. As a key component of this initiative, a comprehensive eye clinic was conducted to assess visual health and detect vision impairments among adult participants. Following the clinical examinations, 150 individuals identified as having visual deficiencies were provided with prescription eyeglasses free of charge, enabling them to improve their quality of life, daily functioning, and overall well-being. This humanitarian project marked a significant step towards preventing avoidable blindness and promoting eye care awareness among rural communities. The participation and collective contribution of Lions members added exceptional value to the event. |
