An awareness program titled “The Path Not to Be Taken” was successfully held at Godapitiya National School, Akuressa on 23rd October 2025 with the primary objective of educating school children on preventing deviant behavior, understanding the consequences of criminal involvement, and promoting positive life choices. The initiative was organized as part of the community outreach and youth development efforts of the Lions Clubs International, which has increasingly focused on youth empowerment and social responsibility.
The keynote address at the event was delivered by Lions District 306D 8 Governor, Lion Jagath Weerasinghe (Commissioner of the Prison), who emphasized the psychological, social, and legal consequences of engaging in criminal behavior at a young age.
