Project Description In response to the devastating Ditwa Disaster, the Lions Club of Galle Fort, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Karapitiya, initiated a humanitarian relief effort on 30th November 2025 to assist affected communities in urgent need. As part of this initiative, the two clubs successfully mobilized donations exceeding a total value of LKR 600,000/-, comprising dry food rations, drinking water, sanitary items, clothing, and other essential goods. These items were generously contributed by club members, well-wishers, and the local community, reflecting a strong spirit of unity and compassion. All collected relief items were carefully sorted, packed, and delivered to the nationally recognized relief अभियान Sirasa Sahana Yathra, conducted by Sirasa TV, ensuring efficient and organized distribution to the disaster-affected areas. |

The Lions Club of Galle Fort successfully organized a meaningful community service project on 26th February 2026 at 4.00 p.m. at the Divisional Secretariat Office, Habaraduwa, with the objective of supporting low-income families facing economic hardships. Under this initiative, 25 dry ration packs containing essential daily food items were distributed to 25 deserving families identified from low-income communities in the area. Each pack, valued at approximately LKR 5,000/-, included staple food items and other essential goods required for day-to-day living, thereby providing immediate relief and support to the beneficiaries. This project was fully sponsored by Zone Chairman Lion Nuwan Prasanna Balage in celebration of his birthday, demonstrating a commendable spirit of generosity and personal commitment to community welfare. |

The Lions Club of Galle Fort, in collaboration with Wella Professional, successfully organized a Professional Hair Education Program aimed at empowering youth with practical vocational skills in the beauty industry. This initiative was conducted on 26th February 2026 at the Divisional Secretariat Office in Habaraduwa. A total of 25 youth participants benefited from this workshop, which focused on Hair Colouring, Hair Styling, and Hair Setting techniques. The program was conducted by Mr. Evans Vancuyllenberg, who shared his professional expertise and introduced participants to modern trends and advanced techniques in hair fashion. This project was designed to enhance employability and self-employment opportunities among young individuals by equipping them with industry-relevant skills. The interactive session provided both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, enabling participants to gain confidence and practical exposure in salon practices. |
