A drug prevention program (Noya Yuthu Maga) was conducted on 28th August 2025 at Sumangalodaya College, Kalehe, Galle according to the vision of Governor of 306 D8 District, under the Rebuilding an intelligent youth community. Organized by – Lions Club of Galle Diamond This program was conducted by the Governor of 306 D8 District, Lion Jagath Weerasinghe,MJF,MAF,JP and 405 children from the school participated in it. Eye tracing & donation of spectacles

Pasindu had a very rare condition in his vision and was asked to get the spectacles done at a very early time. Unfortunately due to his parents unawareness of his condition and poor financers had delayed him for more than an year. Lions club of Galupura Central identified the need of the child and got his spectacles done. All readings were taken free of charge by Wijethunga opticians and charged only for the lens not the frame. This case made us to do an eye tracing for the whole school and identify 11 more students who needed correction lenses. Club will get all their spectacles done in August.

Distribution of School Books & Equipment

According to a concept of the Governor of 306 D8, a book and essential equipment distribution ceremony for school children under the program "THANAMU PASAL DARUWANTA HETA DINAK" was held by the Galle Diamond Lions Club on 15th August 2025 at the Galle District Secretariat Auditorium. Among the children who came to establish the District Children's Council on that day, 27 students who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and Advanced Level Examinations were awarded prizes. Lion Sanath Geetha Shantha, president of Galle Diamond Lions Club acted as the project chairperson.

Market for handicrafts created by women

A market for handicrafts created by women who completed the Liyata Saviya Women's Handicraft Course was held by the Galle Diamond Lions Club on 05th August 2025 at the Magedara Sanasa Society Auditorium, Yakkalamulla. A large number of handicrafts were sold that day, thereby creating a future market for women. GLT Coordinator Lion Ranjith Jayathilaka, GMT ( Family & Women) coordinator of Lion District 306 D8 Lion Rita Swarnamala and Region Chairperson Lion Kapila Kohobange, MAF,JP were attended for these event.

Certificate Awarding Ceremony

A ceremony to distribute certificates and equipment kits to female students who completed the “Liyata Saviya Women's Empowerment and Development Training Course organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club was held on 05th August 2025 at 1000 hrs at the Magedara Sanasa Society Auditorium, Yakkalamulla, Galle. Conduct Seminars for Grade 5 Scholarship Program

The second seminar in the series of Grade 5 Scholarship Seminars organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club of the 306 D 8 District was held on 04th August 2025 at 1100 hrs at the auditorium of Bedipita College, Galle. This seminar was organized in conjunction with the English Day of the college, and about 50 students participated in this seminar. File covers, question papers and stationery were provided to the participating students and a tea party was also held. A Grade 5 Scholarship Seminar organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club of the 306 D 8 Lions District was held on 04th August 2025 at 0900 hrs at the Galle Angalugaha Maha Vidyalaya Auditorium. 75 Grade 5 students participated in this seminar. Printed past Papers and file covers were provided for students. Participants - Galle Provincial Director of Education, 306 D8 District Cabinet Officer Lion Chitra Bamunusinghe Galle Diamond Lions Club Chairman, Regional 3 treasurer Lion KKSG Shantha and Lions of Galle Diamond Lions Club Project Chairperson - Galle Diamond Lions Club Secretary, Regional No. 3 Secretary Lion Jinesh Nanayakkara organized the conference in a grand manner.

Tea Technology - 2nd Program

A 02nd training program on Tea technology & consultancy organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club with the participation of national consultants of the National Plantation Management Institute, with the aim of establishing legal aid and advisory services as per the vision of Governor 306 D 8, was held at Mulana village in the Kalahe area of Galle on 08th July 2025 at 1400 hrs. Equipment kits were provided to the participants (35 Participants) and the 03 lions of Lion Club of Galle Diamond were participated in the event. Convention Secretary Lion Prasad Kohombange, MJF, MAF and Region 3 Chairperson Lion Kapila Kohombange, MAF,JP were attended these program. This Service project was organized in a grand manner by Lion Jinesh Nanayakkara (Secretary of Galle Diamond Lions Club) as the project chairperson.

In line with the District 306 D8 Governor’s concept of empowering Dhamma Schools, on 2025.11.09, a program was held at the Sri Indarathana Dhamma School of the Makuluwa Buddhisingharama Temple, Galle, to appreciate 80 students who demonstrated special talents. The event was graced by the Chief Incumbent of the temple, the Principal Monk of the Dhamma School, GST Coordinator Lion Chinthaka Dharmasoma MAF, Region Chairman Lion Kapila Kohobange MAF, President of the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club Lion Lady Sandya Pathiranawasam MAF, Director Lion Kamil Shantha Kumara MAF, Treasurer Lion Iraj Gunasekara MAF, and 1st Vice President Lion Chaminda Gunawardena.

22 women from the divisional secretariat of the area attended the project and they were educated on the importance of the organic cultivation was lengthily explained by Lion Cyril Kariyawasam who is a Agri specialist in our club. The attendees were educated on how to make organic fertilizer and pesticides. Remedies to control insects attacks and other threats for vegetable plantations. The club handed over vegetable pants and seeds which cost Plants - Rs 6,300 (Plants were donated by Lion Palitha Jayarathna) Plants and seeds - Rs 6,792 (sponsored by club funds) Lion Chandrani, Lion Dr Damayanthi, Lion Thanuja, Lion Cyril, Lion Palitha and Lion Lady Dharma attended the event

The Noya Yuthu Maga Prevention Program at Walgammulla Maha Vidyalaya aims to educate students and teachers about the risks and consequences of substance abuse, build resilience and foster a supportive environment. By conducting that program , we aim to empower students to make informed choices and build a healthier future. The expected outcomes of Noya Yuthu Maga program are multifaceted. By participating in the program, students are likely to gain a deeper understanding of the risks associated with drug use, develop essential life skills, and cultivate a positive attitude toward healthy living. Ultimately the program aims to promote their overall well-being, and empower them to become responsible and productive members of society.

On October 25, 2025, dry food parcels were distributed to two families affected by the flood disaster in the Dangedara area in Galle . The project was chaired by lion Dushyantha Padmakumara. LCI district coordinator , president of the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club Lion sandya Pathiranawasam MAF, and cabinet officer lion Ajith Pushpakumara also participated this event.

World elders day

On October 17, 2025, in commemoration of International Elders’ Day, a special community service project was organized by the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club at the Wijitha Hela Elderly Home. As part of this initiative, dinner was provided to all the elderly residents, and a much-needed electric fan was donated to the facility. In addition, monetary donations were given to each of the elderly individuals to support their daily needs and wellbeing. The project was chaired by Lion Chithra Bamunusinghe MAF, a member of the Women's Committee and Director of the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club. We provided evening tea with halapa and dinner for the residents of the Senahase Nawathana Elders’ Home. In addition, we donated dry food items, essential medicines, toothpaste, and other necessities. Afterwards, we organized a singing program together with the elders, which brought them great happiness. District Governor Lion Jagath Weerasingha MJF MAF JP, Convention Secretary Lion Prasad Kohoban PMJF, PMAF ,GLT Coordinator Lion Ranjith Jayathilaka MAF and Region Chairman Lion Kapila Kohobange MAF also participated in this memorable event.

The Galle Akmeemana Centennial lions club , together with the region , conducted a mental health and well being project at G/ Angulugaha M.V. , Galle. Around 200 children participated this event. The resource person was senior psycology consultant lion Samantha Kariyawasam. It was a successful program organized by the region.
