On 4th October 2025, the Lions Club of Galle Fort proudly conducted the “Green Giving – Fruit Tree Donation Drive” as part of its ongoing commitment to community development and environmental sustainability. During the Sinha Charika Motor Rally, which travelled Katharagama to Galle, the Club donated 50 high-value fruit trees to underprivileged families residing along the rally route. This initiative was designed not only to provide immediate nutritional support but also to empower families with long-term resources that will continue to benefit them for years to come. By providing fruit-bearing trees, the project addressed food security, encouraged sustainable practices, and promoted environmental awareness among the community. |

Project Description The Lions Club of Galle Fort, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Galle and Lions Club of Unawatuna, successfully organized a Savings Book Giving Project on 19th July 2025 at the Galle Buddhist Center, Kaluwella, Galle. This initiative aimed to promote financial literacy and savings habits among school children from low-income families. As part of the project, 100 students were provided with bank savings passbooks, each preloaded with LKR 1,000, enabling the children to start their personal savings journey. The funds for this initiative were generously sponsored by PIP Mahendra Amarasuriya, reflecting a strong commitment to youth development and community support. |
