Organizing Related Programs on sight Day

In conjunction with World Sight Day in October 2025, the Lions Club of Galle Diamond organized a function for the welfare of visually impaired brothers and sisters. A dinner and essential supplies distribution ceremony was held on 16th October 2025 for the people of the Jayawardena Memorial Vocational Training Home for the Visually Impaired, managed by the Galle Youth Buddhist Society in Kapuhempala, Galle. After offering thanks to the Lions Club, they sang songs and enjoyed the meal, and we at the Diamond Lions Club also sang songs to thank them and held the program beautifully. The event was attended by the Convention Secretary of 306 D8 Lions District, Lion Prasad Kohomban, MJF, MAF, GLT Coordinator Lion Ranjith Jayathilaka, MAF GMT, Family & Women's Specialist Sinha Rita Swarnamala, MAF and other Lions. 04 Lions were participated this program with the President of Galle Diamond.

Awarness program on MINDSET MAKEOVER changing attitude of school children

As per the vision of the Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, the Galle Diamond Lions Club conducted a awareness program on “MINDSET MAKEOVER” changing attitudes of school children at Pilana Vidyarthodaya Maha Vidyalaya on 14th October 2025 at 1130 hrs. About 150 children from the school participated in this program, and the program was conducted by the Leadership and Human Development Lecturer Lion Samantha Kariyawasam and the Even management Coordinator and Veteran Lecturer Ravindra Jagoda. The LCIF Coordinator of the Galle Diamond Lions Club, Lion Mahesh Amarasiri acted as the Project Chairman of this program and it was successfully conducted with the participation of members including the President of the Galle Diamond Lions Club.

Organizing Program in School in Rural Area - MENTAL DEVELOPMENT & SUCCESSFUL LEARNING METHOD PROGRAM

As per the vision of the Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, the Galle Diamond Lions Club conducted a program to raise awareness about mental development and successful learning methods at Pilana Vidyathordaya Maha Vidyalaya on 14th October 2025 at 0830 hrs. About 210 children from the school participated in this program, and the program was conducted by a senior psychology consultant and human development lecturer Mr. Samantha Kariyawasam. Lion Mahesh Amarasiri, LCIF Coordinator of the Galle Diamond Lions Club, acted as the project chairman of this program and it was successfully conducted with the participation of members including the Chairman of the Galle Diamond Lions Club.

Organizing Teachers Appreciation Program

As per the vision of Governor of 306 D8, the Galle Diamond Lions Club organized a function to appreciate the Dhamma School teachers of the Akmeemana Sri Praggnananda Dhamma School, Galle, to strengthen Dhamma schools and to celebrate Teachers' Day. 09 Teachers were appreciated this program This program was conducted at 1215 – 1415 hrs on 12th October 2025 under the patronage of the Chief Venerable of the temple in appreciation of the efforts made by the Dhamma School teachers to improve the Dhamma education of the children and to bequeath good citizens to the society.

Implementation of Global Service Project - HUNGER

As per the vision of Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, under the theme of HUNGER, a global program of the Lions International, the Galle Diamond Lions Club distributed a morning soup, breakfast and ice cream as dessert to the children of the Sri Praggnananda Dhamma School in Galle, Akmeemana. This program was conducted at 0730 – 1000 hrs on 12th October 2025 for 75 children under the patronage of the Chief Venerable Thero of the temple.

As per the vision of Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, under the Dhamma School strengthening, the Galle Diamond Lions Club organized a prize distribution ceremony for the children of the Sri Pranggnananda Dhamma School, Galle, Akmeemana. This program was conducted at 1030 - 1230 hrs on 12th October 2025 under the patronage of the Chief Venerable of the temple for the 18 winners of the Inter-Provincial Dhamma Knowledge Competition in the year 2025.

As per the vision of Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, under the auspices of the Dhamma School Empowerment and under the theme of Hunger, a global program of the Lions International, the Galle Diamond Lions Club distributed a morning soup, breakfast and ice cream as dessert to the children of the Sri Praggnananda Dhamma School in Galle, Akmeemana. This program was conducted at 0730 – 1000 hrs on 12th October 2025 for 75 children under the patronage of the Chief Venerable Thero of the temple. The "Parama Mithuro" Foundation operating in the Akmeemana area also provided support for this.

Implementation of Global Service Project

As per the designated by Lion international, 1st week of October (4 - 12) introduced as Mental Health and Well - Being week. This program was conducted under the leadership of the Galle Diamond Lions Club as Region project. A tea party was held for the participants and arrangements were made to sing songs to improve the mental state of the children. Project organized relevant to the District Motor Rally - Near Sahana Restaurant - Dewata

On 05th October 2025, in a service project jointly conducted by a number of Lions Clubs near the Galle Deweta Sahana Restaurant, the Galle Diamond Lions Club symbolically carried out the projects of distributing books to 25 school children and distributing 10 relief bags to low-income families. The chief guests were Lion Jagath Weerasinghe MJF, MAF,JP, the Governor of Lion District 306 D8, Lion Chaminda Hindurangala MJF, MAF, the Governor of Lion District 306 D1, Lion Shyana Jayalath, the Multiple Chairperson of the 306 District. The Deputy Governors of the two Lion Districts , cabinet officers and many Lions also participated in this project.

The Galle Diamond Lions Club also participated in the “Sinha Charika” jointly conducted by 306 D8 and 306 D1 Lion Districts. On 03rd October 2025, the Bodhi Pooja ceremony at the Kiri Vehera shrine and the special Pooja held at the Devalaya were also attended.

55 Autisam children who came to celebrate World Children's Day on 01st October 2025 were entertained by organizing competitions of their choice. The Governor and government official distributed gifts and food parcels as a social service of the Galle Diamond Lions Club.

Gifts and food parcels were distributed to 1275 children who came to celebrate World Children's Day on 01st October 2025 at Dharmapala Park, Galle. The gifts were distributed by the Governor and including the Lions.

Organizing World Children's Day

To celebrate World Children's Day, the Galle Diamond Lions Club organized a Children's Day program for 1275 children on 01st October 2025 at the Galle Dharmapala Park in a grand manner. In this program, competitions, children's activities, DJ music and various sports were organized for the children. The guests of the event included the Governor of 306 D8, 1st Vice Governor of 306 D8, Cabinet Secretary, Convention Secretary, Regional and Zonal Chairpersons, Cabinet Officers, Lions Club Officers and many Lions, Minister Nalin Hewage, Galle Mayor, District Secretary as well as officials from government and non-government organizations. The project co-chairmen of the event were Lion Shantha, President of the Galle Diamond Lions Club and Secretary Lion Jines.

After the Japanese Language Scholarship Ceremony held at the Matara Institute of Higher Education on 27th September 2025, the Governor of 306 D 8 Lion District, Lion Jagath Weerasinghe, MJF, MAF, JP delivered a leadership lecture to the students present. 600 students participated in this program, and 3 Lions including the Chairman from the Galle Diamond Lions Club participated

Breast cancer screening was done for 30 female adults and more than 200 poor adult estate people were clinically investigated blood pressure, BMI index, cough, fever, and other common diseases

Program on Agricultural Home Gardens

A valuable lecture was organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club on 25th September 2025 for the general public under the following topics.  As per the Governor’s 05 Dimensions – Creating a public mind that loves the environment ( 5.1)  Programs on agricultural Home Gardens (46 : 05)  Implementing Global Service Project - Environment This program was conducted by Mr. G.C. Kaluarachchi, Agricultural Advisor to the Department of Agriculture and Mr. Prasad Kasthuri, Advisor to the Ministry of Plantation Industries at the public Hall in Halgasmulla, Galle. About 35 planters from the area participated in this program

Education Public about environmental values

As per the vision of Governor of District 306 D8, a program to educate the general public about agriculture and distribute seedlings in line with the global project environment empowerment was conducted by the Galle Diamond Lions club on 24th September 2025 at the Hikkaduwa East Public Hall. 02 Lion of Galle Diamond were participated. Hikkaduwa East Agricultural Research Officer S.S. Sarath Gamini conducted this program and about 30 growers participated. Hikkaduwa East Women's Coordination Committee Chairperson Mrs. Malkanthi Dias and several other government officials participated in this program.

Gardning, Tree Planting and animal conservation awarness program

A program to educate women on gardening, tree planting and animal conservation was held at Kadurugashena Nila Sewana on 23rd September 2025. Mr. Kasthuriarachichi, Advisor to the Department of Plantation Department, participated as the main speaker of this program and 03 Lions including president were participated. 44 women from the area participated in this program, and the coordination activities were conducted by the Women Coordination Officer of the Akmeemana Divisional Secretariat.

Workshops/Seminars/Training Programs for Women

Under the vision of District Governor of 306 D8, women empowerment, Mentorship and Attitude development program for women in line with the global project humanitarian efforts empowerment was conducted by the Galle Diamond Lions club on 23rd September 2025 at the Kadurugashena Nila Sewana, Hiyare, Galle This program was conducted by event coordinator Ravindra Jagoda and 41 women from the area participated in this program. The Women's Affairs Coordinator of the Divisional Secretariat of Akmeemana, Samurdhi Officer. Grama Niladhari and several other government officials were participated in this program.
