We donated essential food and clothing to support their daily needs and then had a blast playing games, singing songs and dancing together. It was heartwarming to see the kids laugh and have so much fun.

Speech therapist allowance - Help for Autism kids

Lions club of Galupura Central pay monthly allowance for the speech therapist at Pragathi (the pediatric neuro development centre for differently able kids) at National Hospital Galle. She visit the centre 3 days per week, month of August she has covered 88 hours and have delivered lessons to 84 patients. Club is paying Rs 30000 per month for her work.

Women Empowerment - 6 months course of Cake, Pastry and Puddings

Galupura Central started a six months course for young women to empower them in learning the correct and the standard way of doing cakes, pastry and puddings to match the hotel industry. 10 ladies are doing the course and our main aim is for them to start their own food production and develop their family economy. All these ladies are from needy backgrounds who should develop their financial levels to support kids who have started schooling. We have open doors for a very young student who refused to pursue higher education in school. Very happy to notice she is doing well in learning and making her way to get in to hotel school for a course after completing this. For the four lessons delivered the following cost is covered 1. Ingredients for food (8 lessons for a month) - Rs 120,000 2. Utility Bills (190 hours per month) - Rs 10,000 2. Lions Fiesta - Helping the fundraising project

A district fundraising was organized by the 306 D8 governor Lion Jagath Weerasinghe. Lions Fiesta was a carnival of three days in Galle to raise funds to support service project in the district. Galupura Central supported the event by covering duty on three days. We have five members in club representing the district cabinet and one member in District Ladies committee 1. Vision - Donation of spectacles to students

Lions club of Galupura Central started a project 'CEARE' screening vision of young kids in most needy schools. We have picked three schools in Galle and the first school was Kithulampitia Ananda where many kids from 'SOS' children's' village and kids who are under probation is attending. Galle MOH helped us the first screening of vision of all children in school. The school got over 500 students. Out of 500 they identified 13 students who need correction lenses. In July we got the most needed spectacle done for a boy student who had multiple issues and partially blind on one eye. 11 spectacles were done in August and the remaining will be completed in September. 1. Salmal Cute Kids -Supporting Kids with special needs

The director of Salmal Cute Kids Lion Chandrika Malwenna and Lion Rajive Lorensuhewa is conducting activity days twice a month at the Salmal Cute Kids for 18 to 20 kids who are under special education. Three qualified recourse people are delivering the activities. Parents as well as the kids are enjoying the day and kids are developing motor skills, coordination and communicational skills. Lunch for cancer hospital

4th July Lion Ruwan Chandana and L/L Dimuthu offered alms to 275 inhouse patients at the National Hospital Galle. Karapitiya. Lion Palitha, Lion Dharma, Lion Thanuja, Lion Chamali joinedthe event at Karapitiya. This is a signature project of the Lions Club of Galupura Central. The cost of Meals Rs. 48,125/= Dessert (Yought) Rs. 16,500/= Medicine Rs. 9625/= Travelling Rs. 750/= Total Expenditure Rs. 75000/=

Tree planting

Regional Tree planting project - Three members from the club including the Zone chairman Lion Chandrika took part at the regional tree planting project at the Janadhipathi Vidyalaya, Walahanduwa, Galle. The D8 District governor, 1st Vice District Governor, District secretary and many cabinet members took part at the event. Project started at 8.00am and ended up at 9.30am. Project Chairman - Lion Ruwan Ruwan's and Dimuthu's daughter donated all her A/L science' books and over 65 exercise books were handed over to school. School Principal Lion Senaviratna, Lion Kumari Kandambi, A/L science teachers and the head prefect received the donation. The text books will be in Library and exercise books will be taken for a project of the head prefect (to take to more needy community ) Project values approximately around Rs 70,000. Project Coordinator - Thanuja Wijesinghe Participants - 250 Believe In You at the ' Clean Sri Lanka' day at Sacred Heart Convent. Lion Thanuja Wijesinghe Senaviratna addressed 250 students at Sacred Heart Convent 'Clean' starts from self, and from home, to do all this we should always have a clean mind, clean attitudes, clean behaviour. This makes self to keep environment clean always because we take responsibility of self and respect others and environment around us. The children will be using their green bags to take their refuse home to do correct disposal and they will be taking a plastic free school.

Salmal Cute Kids - Workshop for Special kids

Project coordinator - Lion Chandrika & Lion Rajiv Two valuable workshops were held for children with special needs on July 5th and July 26th. Club President Thanuja Senavirathna, participated with a group of special educational officials to inform the parents as a resource person.Programs were held at the Salmal Cute Kids School under the guidance of Lion Chandrika.There are around 20 children with different abilities participating the project.Teachers are conducting art and craft , motor skill development to develop mobility and hand and eye coordination for kids. Parents are addressed by resource people with most updated methods bringing up differently able child. 4th July - 20 children, 12 parents , 5 resource people 26th July - 18 children, 15 parents, 5 resource people
