In celebration of the 1st Anniversary of the Leo Club of Galle Fort, the Lions Club of Galle Fort, in collaboration with the Leo Club of Galle Fort, successfully organized an impactful environmental project titled “The Green Promise: Tree Planting & Environmental Awareness Initiative” on 14th December 2025 at Kathaluwa Central College. As part of this initiative, 100 plants were donated and planted within the school’s Science Garden, enhancing the greenery of the school premises while promoting environmental sustainability. This effort contributed to creating a healthier and more eco-friendly learning environment for students. Following the tree planting program, an environmental awareness session was conducted by the Science Teacher of Kathaluwa Central College, Mr. Neel Heenatigala. The session, which lasted for approximately one and a half hours, focused on the importance of environmental conservation, the value of trees, and basic scientific knowledge related to ecology and sustain

Each child received a set of essential items including school bags, shoes, lunch boxes, and collecting pots, which are vital for their daily school activities and help cultivate good habits from an early age. This project aimed to reduce the financial burden on parents while encouraging children to participate in their education with confidence and enthusiasm. By providing these basic necessities, the initiative contributed towards creating equal opportunities for young learners and strengthening the foundation for their future development.
