The Kidney Disease Awareness Walk organized by the 306 D8 Lions District was held in Galle on 21st September 2025. 03 Lions from the Galle Diamond Lions Club participated in this awareness program and the program concluded after the closing ceremony at the Kaluwella Buddhist Center. Lot of Lions were participated in this program.

Mentorship Program for Young Peaple

Conducting mentoring programs, the 2nd Vice Governor of the 306 D8 Lion District Lion Ranjith Abeysundara, MAF, AAL, LLB, ALLI conducted a youth mentoring program in Matara on 20th September 2025. 490 youth participated in this program and it was conducted in a high-class manner as another social service of the Galle Diamond Lions Club.

Conducting Skills Development Program for Youth

In accordance with the vision of the District Governor, A program to promote the Japanese language among young people and thereby develop their skills was held at the Matara Institute of Higher Education on 20.09.2025. The 2nd Vice Governor of 306 D8 Lion District, Attorney-at-Law Lion Ranjith Abeysundara, MAF, AAL, LLB, ALLI who came as the guest of honor at this awareness program. 490 youth participated in this program. The program was organized in a high-quality manner by Lion Jinesh Nanayakkara,MAF, MJF, Vice President of the Galle Diamond Lions Club, as the Project Chairman. A tea party was held for all the Lions including the Chief Guest and a lunch was hosted by the 2nd Vice Governor for all the Lions and staff at the Matara Inn. (A sum of Rs. 16390.00 was raised for this program)

Providing the Necessary financial support for the Carnival

As per the vision of the Lion Commander of the 306 D8 Lion District, a Musical and trade festival called “Lion Fiesta” was held at the Samanala Ground, Galle on 29th , 30th and 31st August 2025 to raise fund for district projects. The Galle Diamond Lions Club provided a financial support worth of Rs. 55,000.00 for this festival.(Attached)

Project for Pregnant Mothers

Have helped a Pregnant Mother's project held at Dulanga hotel for 50 people from 12 MOH areas. These mothers were picked from the very needy community and they were all very young moms from age 18 to 24. Out of the 50 mothers only 3 were employed and the other 47 were un employed and the fathers were mostly daily workers (labourers) The mothers were given a snack, Lunch and gift pack for the mother and the baby worth of Rs 25,000 Awareness programmes of upbringing the child with love and care as well as explaining Sigmund Freud's theory was explained by Lion Thanuja on her session of 30 minutes. Lion Janaka sponsored the snack for the morning tea and chocolates were offered to all moms by Lion Thanuja. The project was conducted by a teacher from a leading school in Galle Ms Priyanka Sannasuriya

Fixing a Convex mirror - Road safety

We focus on safety. Have fixed a convex mirror in an elbow bend where there were lots of accidents in Akmeemana area. The mirror was fixed near Akmeemana Ihalagoda road near Galpoththa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya where lots of vehicles move ass well as elders and children. project was coordinated by Lion Chamil Prasanna Epa.

Cookery Demonstartion - Finagle Lanka Pvt ltd

We delivered the Finagle cookery demonstration to ladies from Akmeemana division. Project coordinator was Lion Chandrani, venue and attendees were arranged by Lion Chamil and Lion Malini. The event was graced by the Zone and Region chairman

Women Empowerment course - 3rd Month

Our students attending lessons two days per week during the month. They cover 8 days of work covering individual 40 hours for a month. They learn to prepare at least three items weekly. Individual participant get the chance to do every food product from the 1st step to the last. They are taught to operate commercial cooking and baking equipment used in the hotel kitchen. Chef Ajith check performances of each students while they are preparing the items and they are given marks for the final examination. We dropped two participants due to their poor attendance and we have 9 students following the course Ingredient cost for 8 lessons - Rs 200,000 Chef's fee for month -Rs 40,000 Utility bills for 8 lessons -Rs 10,000 Lion Janaka and lion Thanuja coordinate the project and mentor the team

Distribution of School Books and Equipments

A prize awarding ceremony was organized for the school students at the end of the NOYA YUTHU MAGA program held at Sumangalodaya College on 28th August 2025. This program was organized by the Galle Diamond Lions Club for the 62 students who won prizes in the Knowledge Measurement Competition held among schools in the area.
