As per the vision of Governor 306 D 8, with the aim of empowering women economically and making Sri Lankan women part of the economy, a ceremony to distribute certificates, prizes and equipment kits to women who completed the “Liyata Saviya Women's Empowerment and Home Economics Development Training Course” was held on 15th July 2025 at 1030 hrs at the Bodhimalu Temple at Kurunduwatta, Galle. 22 women from the divisional secretariat of the area attended the project and they were educated on the importance of the organic cultivation was lengthily explained by Lion Cyril Kariyawasam who is a Agri specialist in our club. The attendees were educated on how to make organic fertilizer and pesticides. Remedies to control insects attacks and other threats for vegetable plantations. The club handed over vegetable pants and seeds which cost Plants - Rs 6,300 (Plants were donated by Lion Palitha Jayarathna) Plants and seeds - Rs 6,792 (sponsored by club funds) Lion Chandrani, Lion Dr Damayanthi, Lion Thanuja, Lion Cyril, Lion Palitha and Lion Lady Dharma attended the event

Awareness Program

The Noya Yuthu Maga Prevention Program at Walgammulla Maha Vidyalaya aims to educate students and teachers about the risks and consequences of substance abuse, build resilience and foster a supportive environment. By conducting that program , we aim to empower students to make informed choices and build a healthier future. The expected outcomes of Noya Yuthu Maga program are multifaceted. By participating in the program, students are likely to gain a deeper understanding of the risks associated with drug use, develop essential life skills, and cultivate a positive attitude toward healthy living. Ultimately the program aims to promote their overall well-being, and empower them to become responsible and productive members of society.

On October 17, 2025, in commemoration of International Elders’ Day, a special community service project was organized by the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club at the Wijitha Hela Elderly Home. As part of this initiative, dinner was provided to all the elderly residents, and a much-needed electric fan was donated to the facility. In addition, monetary donations were given to each of the elderly individuals to support their daily needs and wellbeing. The project was chaired by Lion Chithra Bamunusinghe MAF, a member of the Women's Committee and Director of the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club.
