11 young girls were selected to follow a 6 months Pastry, Bakery and confectionary course. They were taught 23 food items to do and had their presentation and the certificate presentation. D8 District Govenor Lion Jagath Weerasinghe, 1st vice governor Lion Ravi Kalansooriya were Chief Guest and the Guest of honour. Course was delivered at Pizza Den by Course Instructor – Chef Ajith Dheerasekara with 30 years experience in 5 star hotel chains. The Finland foster parents and children offered pirikara ( offertory) to the Sill observers. Lion members and Mr Ranu Karunasekara (late PDG Lion S.K Karunasekara's son) did offertory to the monk who delivered the sermon. value of the transport for the monk Rs.10000. To commemorate the Melvin John's month, Lions Club of Galupura Central, conducted a psychosocial support programme at Jinaraja Girls’ School, Gampola, on 26th and 27th January 2026. The programme reached 1,000 students from Grades 6, 9, and 10, O/L (December and February batches), A/L (August batch), as well as junior and senior prefects & Teachers. The sessions were conducted under the theme “Healing Minds and Rebuilding a Resilient Personality”, a programme designed by 'Believe In You' founder Lion Thanuja Wijesinghe Senaviratna. The main objective of the project was to provide immediate, accessible, and culturally appropriate psychosocial support to communities affected by the Cyclone Dithwa disaster. Based on a prior needs assessment and study, the programme was tailor-made to suit different age groups, ensuring relevance and effectiveness for each student category.
