A public awareness programme on Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR was conducted on 14 February 2026 in the evening at the Galle Fort Ramparts, under the leadership of Lion Indira Liyanage, Director of the Galle Akmeemana Centennial Lions Club. The programme was organized with the support of the Sri Lanka Resuscitation Council (SLRC), the College of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists of Sri Lanka, and the RESUS Society of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna. Local and foreign visitors to Galle Fort had the opportunity to gain a wealth of very important life-saving knowledge through this programme. |

A Mental Health Promotion Program was conducted as a joint project, focusing on enhancing overall well-being and resilience by creating a supportive environment and strengthening protective factors. The initiative aimed to prevent the onset and worsening of mental health issues by addressing and reducing risk factors. The program also included practical activities and an interactive Q&A session for students to deepen their understanding of strategies to improve mental health conditions. Two resource persons participated and shared valuable insights during the session. |

We had a team of osteopathists from France to serve our community. They started their services from 1st Jan to 24th January 2026. They worked with 35 patients who needed care. Very positive feed back were received from the patients. They worked on all five week days from 7.30 to 3.30 and gave home visits for people who have difficulty in reaching the centre for treatments. The team worked for 8 hours for 19 days . During their stay they covered 71 people. Their stations for treatments - Boossa, Galle and Volunteer Sri Lanka, No 36/14, Hirimbura Cross Road, Galle At Boossa they helped 24 patients within 8 days, and at Volunteer Sri Lanka they treated 30 patients within 7 days. They gave home visits to 17 people within 4 days. All this treatment were delivered free of charge. Price value for one hour should be Rs 1500 per hour which will value 152 hours (Rs 228,000). Lion Vijitha Kandambi and Lion Kumari Kandambi conducted the Diabetic tracing camp for senior citizens at Galwadugoda Galle. The venue was Sri Sumangala Thilakaramaya, Galwadugoda. 35 people were checked at the camp. The camp was led by Dr Vimukthi Rananjaya from National Hospital, Galle and thee nursing staff joined the project. The people were checked for FBS, Blood pressure, BMI and general sicknesses. Patients were reffered as per the needs to specialists. All were served porridge after the testing and an awareness of noncommunicable deceases were delivered |

The director of Salmal Cute Kids Lion Chandrika Malwenna and Lion Rajive Lorensuhewa is conducting activity days twice a month at the Salmal Cute Kids for 18 to 20 kids who are under special education. Three qualified recourse people are delivering the activities. Parents as well as the kids are enjoying the day and kids are developing motor skills, coordination and communicational skills.
