On 12th September 2025, in celebration of Children’s Day, the Lions Club of Galle Fort, in collaboration with Peoples Bank – Koggala Branch, successfully organized a meaningful financial empowerment project at the Peoples Bank Koggala Branch,
This initiative focused on supporting students from Dharmika College, Habaraduwa, particularly those from low-income families, by encouraging the habit of saving from a young age. As part of the project, 20 school students were provided with newly opened savings accounts. To give them a strong start and motivation towards financial discipline, a sum of Rs. 1,000/- was deposited into each account, amounting to a total contribution of Rs. 20,000/-.
This project was designed not only to provide immediate financial assistance but also to instill long-term financial awareness and responsibility among the students. By introducing them to formal banking systems, the initiative aimed to empower these young individuals to build a secure financial
