: Ratnapura-Colombo Main Road (Entrance of Bodhiraja International School)
Lions Club of Embilipitiya Black Lions completed Phase I of a high-quality passenger shelter on the Ratnapura-Colombo road. This vital facility serves 3,000 students of Bodhiraja International School, 700 preschoolers, and thousands of commuters and devotees. The project involved covering a 20ft RDA drain with reinforced concrete.
The entire technical construction, including welding and painting, was voluntarily done by Project Chairman Lion Shamil Chamika. Four Lions dedicated 3 hours daily for 16 days for the structural work. Total investment of LKR 585,000 was funded via a LKR 230,000 sponsorship from Rocky Holdings and personal contributions from Lion Shamil Chamika and members. This shelter provides essential protection from sun and rain, standing as a sustainable community asset. (Reported in Lion Portal).
