In a direct life-saving intervention, the Lions Club installed solar-powered elephant fence electric systems for two underprivileged families in Thanamalwila. These families, totaling 12 members, were living in constant fear as wild elephants frequently encroached on their home garden. By installing these professional-grade electric fences, we have ensured the safety of their lives, property, and livelihoods. This project provides a sustainable solution to the intense human-elephant conflict in the area. The entire cost was personally funded by Lion Shamil Chamika and Lion Nihal Wijesiri, demonstrating their deep commitment to community safety and individual empowerment.
